Choreographer and Teacher

Chengxin began his professional dance training in 1986 at the Beijing Dance Academy, where he studied Classical Chinese Dance. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from the Beijing Dance Academy in 1997, and subsequently worked three years as principal dancer with the Guangdong Provincial Dance Drama Theatre in Guangzhou, China. Chengxin has toured and performed in Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Macao, and the United States and Canada. In 1995, he won the Outstanding Dancer Award at the Fourth National Dance Competition in China, and in 1996, won First Place in the Beijing Dance Competition dancing the famous Chinese pas de deux The Butterfly Lovers.  Chengxin won the Best Choreographer Award at the 10th North American Dance Competition in 2006 for his piece "Spirit of the Sword".
