The North American Chinese Dance Competition is held every two years. The 12th competition will be held in North Vancouver, BC, Canada on Sunday May 16, 2010.

North American Chinese Dance Competition - Rules & Regulations

This Competition is held once every two years and is now on its 12th event. The Competition helps focus public awareness on Chinese Dance and through meaningful adjudication from three judges, the participants can improve their standard of performance.

The Competition will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 9:00am to 10:00pm at the North Vancouver Centennial Theatre.

The following Dance Types are recognized at the Competition:

1. Chinese Folk Dance
2. Chinese Classical Dance
3. Chinese Minority / Character Dance
4. Modern Chinese Dance (Modern dance movements and choreography blended with Chinese Dance)
5. Chinese Recreational Dance (Any characteristically Chinese movement, choreographed to Chinese style music)

The Categories are:

• Solo
  Duo
  Trio
  Group

Competitive Classes are organized by:

• Dance Type
  Age
  Category
  Skill Level

To ensure proper adjudication and enable each piece to be properly presented, we can only accept a maximum of 60 entries, on a first come, first served basis.

2010 Competition Fee:  (Subject to change.  Please check at the time of sending in your registration).

Competition Fee:

• Solo = CDN$50.00 per person
  Duo = CDN$35.00 per person
  Trio = CDN$25.00 per person
  Group = CDN$15.00 per person

Registration Date:  Opens on January 15, 2010.  Room for 60 entries.  Registration closes when the entries are full.
