Grace Chen graduated from the Shanghai Dance School in 1998, where she majored in Chinese folk dance. Upon graduation, she worked for five years as a principal dancer of the Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe. During that time, she danced several leading roles in notable dance dramas including the Queen Mother in Golden Dance, Silver Clothes, and Wang Zhao Jun in Four Beauties. She also gave solo performances with The Dancing Peacock and Moon Reflected in Pond.
Grace has toured around the world with the Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe, and has been featured in several major events. One of her most unforgettable career highlights occurred in 2000, where she performed Golden Dance and Silver Clothes in Paris for Shanghai’s bid for the 2010 World Exposition. Since moving to Vancouver in 2003, Grace has continued to perform with the Lorita Leung Dance Company, and is now an instructor at the Lorita Leung Dance Academy.
